When you are working on a roof, you often (of necessity) take back a lot of leftover material. Even if you cut EPDM at prefab in a workshop, you can't use everything. That's something you have to get rid of. And that you have to pay to have it processed. We do want some of your cutting scraps. At least, all your clean cut offs EPDM. Granted, you will have to sort that EPDM and bring it in to one of our CPE branches. If you want to get rid of a large quantity at once, we can also arrange for us to come and pick up the material in Big Bags. From then on, we will take over. So be sure to read on and find out what we will do with your EPDM trimmings....
Sustainability is the guiding principle of Tectum Group's policy, the company that markets BossCover. We aim to make a difference in the future with sustainable products and services.
All our innovations aim to make the building envelope more sustainable. That means two things: using the appropriate materials and applying those materials in demountable systems.
With this initiative, we are preventing the loss of a high-quality raw material. EPDM is derived from petroleum. Reducing our "carbon footprint" is essential considering the climate change. Using non-renewable raw materials sparingly should be our priority!
By sorting out the clean EPDM cuttings from your waste disposal, you save a significant amount of money annually while also contributing to a better environment. For further processing, it is important that the collected EPDM is suitable for recycling in the processing unit. Therefore, it is crucial that the EPDM you provide us with is clean, i.e.:
You will recognize the collection point by the specially designed Big Bag.
Once we have collected enough pure EPDM, we get to work. We have the EPDM remnants ground into 6 mm granules so that they are suitable for the process in which the roof tiles are made. In this way we create a new product, namely our BossCover Rooftile XL.
A rubber roof tile measuring 1 m x 1 m and weighing 30 kg can safely be called Extra Large. The format offers the following advantages:
Due to their weight, these tiles can serve as ballast and do not require adhesive installation. After their lifespan, they can be easily recycled again into high-quality EPDM, completing the circle. However, that will only happen many years from now.
Rubber roof tiles are designed to serve as walkways on residential and industrial roofs that require regular maintenance on a variety of installations.
The tiles prevent damage to areas regularly walked on for maintenance of technical installations such as air conditioners, solar panels and the like.
Colored tiles delineate the walkway and then allow you to safely move around on the roof by walking on the tiles.
Want to join in? Just keep your clean EPDM cuttings, bring them to a CPE branch or collect them in a big bag at your company. Need more information? Ask your question through this form, and we'll be happy to provide you with more details about this initiative!
